Julia Wei, PhD

Dr. Wei’s research interest is the application of the latest biochemical and biophysical methods to human diseases. Dr. Wei’s previous work in translational biomedical research on hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism, focused on elucidating the enzyme kinetics of the crucial acyl-coA thioesterase, which have been entered officially into the acyl-CoA thioesterase (Acot) gene families by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature and the Mouse Genomic Nomenclature Committees. Dr.Wei’s project in Dr. Duffield’s lab was to elucidate the microRNA’s role in kidney fibrosis and their therapeutic role in kidney disease, which further her interest from biochemical and biophysical analysis of protein functions into the latest advances of cellular and molecular biology in translational medicine.
